The Dallas Mavericks star came to Towns' defense during a recent Twitch livestream and requested that fans stop teasing the New York Knicks center, particularly over his voice.

"Y'all gotta stop making fun of my brother KAT," Irving said. "I'm done with y'all. Stop making fun of my brother KAT. It's over now. It's a f---ing wrap. I'm letting y'all know, if you repost that shit again and meme him up, I'm attacking you. Not like that, physically ... but, I'm attacking you, alright? I'm attacking you.

Irving added that he doesn't "always agree" with how Towns changes up the tone of his voice but believes it's due to his upbringing in New Jersey.

"Y'all don't know what it's like to grow up in Jersey and have all of these cultures that you're a part of," said Irving, who also grew up in New Jersey. "Trust me on that. ... He grew up in a certain area in Jersey, just like me, and you gotta survive out here. And you have many different demographics of people."

Towns was traded to the Knicks in October 2024 after spending the first nine seasons of his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in his first campaign in New York, helping lead the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference finals appearance in 25 years.
